From: Kurt FeiglSubject: short course on GPS Analysis: Toulouse 13-15 November, 2002 Intermediate-level short course in GPS Analysis using GAMIT/GLOBK Software Toulouse, France 13-15 November, 2002 This 3-day short-course will cover intermediate and advanced issues in GPS analysis for crustal motion studies, e.g., analyzing large data sets automatically, defining reference frames, handling transient non-linear deformation, and combining solutions. It is assumed that all participants have: (0) acquired a solid background in GPS theory, (1) read the GAMIT/GLOBK manual and the online tutorial, (2) installed and run GAMIT/GLOBK, (3) collected a data set of their own to process, (4) mastered Unix, including csh scripting. The instructors will be Drs. Robert W. King (MIT) and Kurt L. Feigl (CNRS France), both of whom have contributed to the development of the GAMIT/GLOBK software. They will teach in English. The short course will take place at Antares Sud-Ouest, a training institute in Toulouse, France. Located near a museum devoted to space exploration (La Cite de l'Espace), it is accessible by public transportation. Reasonably-priced hotels and restaurants are available within walking distance. See www.antares-so.fr for more information. For help with hotel reservations, please contact Ms. Anne Destouches anne.destouches@antares-so.fr directly. The cost of the short course will be 600 euro per person exclusive of travel, payable to ANTARES. Since Antares is an " organisme de formation professionnelle" (No. 73.31.02191.31), employees of organizations in France (such as the CNRS) can request funding from "leur departement de formation continue". The short course will include practical lab sessions on Linux computers. The number of machines restricts the number of students to twelve (12). Please plan on bringing your data set (RINEX files, H-files, etc.) on CD-ROM. The available keyboards are French (AZERTY). If you are used to a different keyboard, please plan on bringing it. To enroll, please contact Ms. Anne Destouches before Friday, October 18. She must receive payment by Monday, November 4, 2002.
