Date: Mon, 24 Jan 2005 09:56:26 +0100 From: Gilbert FerhatSubject: Open position for GPS/GIPSY expertise The Division of Geological and Planetary Science at Caltech is looking to hire a GPS geodesy staff member to work with data from a wide variety of networks. While this person does not have to have GIPSY experience, we expect that the successful candidate will learn GIPSY since they will work in close collaboration with JPL. The connection to JPL should be viewed as an opportunity since the person will have access to a large number of people with very different expertise. Some facility with modern computing systems is desireable since data management will be non-trivial. We are already in the process of validating an installation of GIPSY on a large Beowulf cluster. I believe that the salary will be in the $50K-$80K range depending on experience. The position is open immediately. Please feel free to pass this information on to relevant candidates. Interested individuals should contact Jean-Philippe Avouac (avouac@gps.caltech.edu).
