Position Announcement: Geodesist

The Space Geodesy Group of the Radio and Geoastronomy Division of the 
SmithsonianAstrophysical Observatory (SAO) is seeking qualified 
candidates for a geoscientist to manage and perform research with the 
50 site BARGEN continuous GPS network.

The successful candidate will supervise a group that monitors 
day-to-day performance of the network, and analyze the GPS phase data 
in a network mode to extract site velocity and other geodetic 
information. The successful candidate will also be expected to 
coordinate BARGEN activities with the Plate Boundary Observatory and 
to undertake an independent course of re-search with BARGEN and other 
relevant data that results in scientific publications.

Minimum qualifications include education and experience with geodetic 
data analysis,methods, and techniques; demonstrated record of 
publications commensurate with experience; experience with UNIX and 
UNIX scripts; experience with computer communication systems,such as 
modems and the Internet.

Starting Salary ranges from $60,505 to $78,659 depending on education
